Traditional Karate at its best!
Karate is a martial art developed for self-defence in Okinawa a small island in the East China sea between Japan and Southern China. We are one of the oldest karate clubs in Southport, founded by Sensei Pete McDowell, teaching karate classes in Southport since 1978.
We are affiliated to the English Goju Ryu Karate Association (EGKA) under England Chief Instructor Ernie Molyneux, 8th Dan, and the International Okinawa Goju-ryu Karate Federation (IOGKF) headed by world renowned karate master Saiko-Shihan Morio Higaonna, 10th Dan and Chief Instructor Tetsuji Nakamura, 7th Dan.
Our karate club consists of a small group of dedicated karate-ka training in traditional Okinawa Goju-ryu karate affiliated to EGKA and IOGKF. Our club has a strong focus on practical and effective traditional karate.
As of 20 July 2017 we will no longer be teaching weekly classes, however we will continue to get together and train on a regular basis and may from time to time run seminars for club members and invited guests.
We no longer have a specific location, we will train wherever it suits, sometimes outdoors, sometimes in a hall. We will coordinate this training through a closed Facebook group. If you are over 16 and are interested in training with us then contact us via our email address -firstname.lastname@example.org Not all applicants will be invited to train but if you have a genuine desire to train, you are prepared to work hard and are respectful then you will be welcomed.
